Sharla Mize is a Nationally Certified Licensed Professional Counselor, with a Mental Health Services designation from the state of Tennessee. Having recently moved to the San Jose area, Ms. Mize is pursuing a Licensed Certified Professional Counselor designation in the state of California. Ms. Mize has been comprehensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy by Michael Maslar, PhD., Director of Mindfulness and Behavior Therapies at The Family Institute of Northwestern University. She graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in Art History in 1992, and from Trevecca Nazarene University with a graduate degree in Professional Counseling in 2007.
Ms. Mize has been providing DBT services to people with substance use and mental health disorders for over 12 years. She has provided DBT therapy in residential settings for adolescents and adults. More recently, Ms. Mize has been in private practice providing group skills training and individual out-patient therapy. In addition to her therapeutic services, Ms. Mize has provided extensive training and consultation to other therapists and treatment centers including, but not limited to Buffalo Child and Family Services in Buffalo, NY.
